Stream multiple videos and have different web interfaces?

Hi, I would like to ask if it's possible to stream multiple videos at once (ie. open more than 1 VLC player to do streaming) and assign different web interfaces for each one?
For instance, do i assign the first VLC player to let's say 192.168.5.1:8080, and the second player to 192.168.5.1:8081 ? If so, how do I do it? Reason that I'm asking this is because currently, if i enable web interface for both the VLC players, the web interface seems to only show one video, hence I would like to separate them into 2 different web interfaces. please guide me through the steps :)
Thanks!

I would guess there are multiple issues.

VLC like to have control over the stream, as such transcoding is required. Depending on the source and the transcode you may not have a powerful enough machine to do two streams.

Then there is the issue of bandwidth for the Ethernet connection if you are streaming locally or bandwidth of the Internet connection if you are using the Internet. This requires UP speed rather than the normally quoted down speed for the server side.

I have had people ask why they can stream 5 things and not the 6th. But all these questions are completely dependent on the source, the transcode and what you expect as a end result. Also if your machine can handle the load for whatever you expect as an end result.

well, i'm streaming via MPEG TS and thus, there's minimal, if any, transcoding. I've tried streaming 5 videos at once to 5 different multicast addresses and both the CPU and the networkhandles it perfectly, so I think there's no issue for this part.

The only issue is the web interface part as mentioned earlier. Is it possible to have separate web interfaces(ie. have a different port) for each VLC player opened, and if so, how do i do it? Cos I want to be able to control each of the VLC players remotely via the web browser.

Thanks.

Code: Select all

vlc -I http --http-host <ip>:<port>

just call on each IP you need :) and they'll come!!
I'll try to play with it and come back with the results, meanwhile I want to recommend these two sites: discussfitness.com, arizonasportsfans.com.
