DVD Playback Problems

Hey there, while this isn't a problem that prevents me from viewing my videos, it is something that I've noticed happening with a few DVDs of mine and was wondering if there was any fix for. Whenever I watch DVDs in VLC or DVD Player (I'm on a Mac and that's the Default DVD Player program), I notice these weird lines that come up across the screen whenever objects slowly move around the screen. Sometimes it's noticeable and other times it happens very lightly. I've put up some pictures of what I'm talking about:
NOTE: These are all taken from the Official Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 1 DVD set I bought at target (not some knockoffs)
NOTE 2: I was taking these at 16:10 aspect ratio, even though it's not the default ratio of the video, the problem is still there when the aspect ratio is set to default

Here's where I notice it on some random objects while the rest of the screen is shown properly:

Here's where the entire image was messing up: NOTE: The last image is meant to be completely red

Anyone know how to fix this problem?

It is a known fact among Telecine artists that Asian made videos (Telecine artists) do not seem to know how to setup and use there equipment. This shows up in the 3-2 pull down. It is supposed to be 3 progressive frames and 2 interlaced frames. This problems is most noticeable in animation.

In order to determine the problem a evaluation of the product would need to be made using some rather specialized tools. It may be correctable if the pull down can be determined and and then removed and then transcoded.

Just because there is commercial product in the market for sale does not mean there aren't any problems with it.

You could try a deinterlace filter, but if I'm correct it may also make the issue worse rather than better.
