Is it possible to download Windows version of VLC on Mac OS?

Postby Shooly » 30 May 2004 17:36

Hi,

Does anyone know (I'm obviously a duncehead) whether it is feasible to download the Windows version of VLC on my iMac OSX 10.2.8 without harm to my computer? Trying to help a friend with Windows and without a connection to the internet enjoy watching DVDs on his computer.

Cheers!

Shooly.

You can download the windows version on your mac without any problems. I suggest you to download the "exe" variant, so you avoid automatic decompressing of the zip archive, which could break VLC.

downloading Windows exe's to a Mac

I do that all the time. I even download viruses from my hotmail account to preview sometimes. The only trouble you might have is if Stuffit tries to expand the file. Make sure you put the Windows download in its own folder, so if Stuffit does a partial unpack all the parts will be together when you try to install it on your Windows box.
