www.ivivo.tv is it a commercial branch of VLC project

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

No! VLC is not ready for prime time. With or without a new skin. :)

The websites is interesting as is the verbiage of the claims. I will admit I'm curious but it seems doubtful they can do half of what they claim. HD video produced on a 100 meg computer that in no way is dependent on CPU or video card but is only limited by your hard drive and the Internet connection??? I got a great bridge in Brooklyn NY that I can let you have cheep today. I get a buck a car for passage each way and 3 bucks per truck. Better hurry this is a one time limited offer. :)

So you try the demo and if it doesn't work for you dump it, I guess. Considering the feasibility of the claims I'm hesitant to do this. Then there is the price tag that makes you feel you are getting a real deal kinda like winning the lottery. Discounted to less than a third of the normal asking price (which is truly outrageous). If it were gold I would be more interested! :)

I think at this juncture I might be more prone to search the patent and read the extract. I marked the page. 8)

Thanks a lot for the report. We are investigating. They might be infringing the GPL.

I'm very sorry to hear this j-b, this is distressing news that someone would just blatantly defraud.

I'm also sorry for the "Prime Time" remark earlier. But you got to admit the claims on their web site are rather wild. This in of itself should make the buyer beware. Never did get back there to read the Patent info, but I assume from your statements it's also a joke. Never the less my heart felt empathy goes out to all the VideoLAN team.

Well, we are all fully aware of VLC's limitations. If there were some people paid and working full-time on it, maybe it could be different :D

Their name usually comes up.

They should be able to help with advice at least.

I assume you have tried to get the story posted to slashdot, etc?

http://ivivo.tv seems quite ready for me. I don't see what retain them to pace a zip or tar.gz on their site or send the patch on vlc 's mailing list

Regardless of that fact they still are breaking copyright and a whole slew of other rules, in they way they present their product.

Regardless of their intentions. They need to do it right, and they need to do it now.

How can a web site that is making wild claims about a product that isn't theirs serve to help VLC? Considering the lack of honesty here, why should anyone believe the promises now?

In essence I agree with The DJ, with a public apology and an immediate change in the website if any trust or collaboration were to be gained here.

The message from Walt Disney, I mean, Walt Sidney was humorous... perhaps it was made by a dislexic mouse.

Hmm! There not located in Hollywood CA, but this doesn't mean it's not Mickey Mouse. :)

BTW it's now on CNET's download.com along with users reviews. It's free!

DMCA anyone?

Postby tqft » 29 Nov 2006 03:05

If vlc people wanted to - could they get Cnet and download.com takedown with a DMCA copyright infringement notice?

Hit their upstream provider until they remove the "offending" item(s).

Not sure how rough you want to play.
