bug with windows shares

Playing videos in windows xp does not work if the file is located
on another windows (98SE) machine on a network share.
Copying the file to a local file system is a possible workaround,
but sometimes a major inconvience if the network is slow or
there is little space available.
I hope this "bug report" helps you. It's the first time I've
used VLC media player on windows and I really like it :-)

ciao,
Dominic

I have the 0.7.1 version of VLC Media Player(Windows) and i change it for 0.7.2 but this new version is full of bugs
- When you play a BIVX(DIVX with many Audio Language), there is a crash of the program with you try to switch in another Language.
- Same problems as happens on DVD Vob sometimes.
- Still the bug on SVCD(Mpeg-2 files) when you launch a file, the audio slow down after 20 secondes and come to normal... in the 0.7.2 version this slow down happens 2 or 3 times in a video of 5mn lenght.
- still no RV9 support :(
- MKV+OGG is also not supported

but globally, it's the best player Ever seen!! :D

7.1 plays DTS audio fine but 7.2 emits screaming white noise in the same way as all other media players. Anyone else find this?

whenever I try and preview videos off emule now, on most of the files the player starts then instantly sais there's an error in emule.exe then I have to close it. I think it has to do with this plugin I downloaded off emule-project.net because before the plugin it works a little better, but after it it crashes 90% of the time. I'm not 100% sure though.

I believe emule generated a new plugin, for vlc 0.7.2 -- did you download that? (the 0.7.1 plugin doesn't work, apparently, with 0.7.2)

yea, I downloaded the 1.4 plugin off the emule site. I just discovered something else though, vlc will preview mpg files but not avi. whenever I do avi files it crashes.

0.7.3 will be available when it is done (about a month or two i think).
There are no nightly binaries for linux (we already have trouble enough getting them for each release). You can always just check out the code and build by hand of course.

I have lost my audio on version 7.2 and it was working before. I am using OS 10.34 and the latest version of VLC. Tried it on a different mac and it worked fine. I have deleted the VLC preferences and it made no difference. Then tried the 7.0 version and still no audio.

Are there any other preference files I can delete apart from library/preferences?

Unable to finish playback properly

Posted: 07 Aug 2004 11:17
by Zeta user
SW: Zeta BeOS RC2, VLC 0.7.2 (BeOS)
HW: Athlon XP, Radeon 9600Pro (bebits driver), Audigy Gamer (zeta drivers).
System hangs when finished playing video file (till now every one I tried: mov, mpeg), that is when I do not stop the playback but let it end naturally. GUI fails to reload, probably infinite loop in redraw. Mouse not moving. Only title bars with window frames and wallpaper visible where the video window was and redraw needed (also in fullscreen). No responce at short ctrl-alt-del (does reboot).

Your drivers/directX is probably a mess. Upgrade to latest version etc.
