i tried playing some 1080i ts streams using vlc on my 1ghz apple imac. they were viewable but i only get about 20fps instead of 30fps.
is there anything i can do to improve performance?
are you working on speeding this up?

1080i is a HUGE format for software decoding.

Try the newest version with OpenGL video output, it might be a bit faster. But all in all, software decoding of such a high resolution video just takes that much processing power (more actually :)

do you think hdtv software decoding could become more optimised in the future?

i cant really use a hardware solution (do any exist?) as i have an imac (no pci!).

hi

i try to play .ts files of 1080i but I get dropped frames, and I get a lot of combing ...
my os is winXP and the processor is P4 2.53 ghz
I can reduce the combing by using the deinterlace function ... but then it is so slow it is not viewable anymore ...

Are there any functiuns I could disable so I can have fluid playback ?

Thanks,
Cedric
