is it possible to watch hdtv on vlc streamed from a dreambox?

What codec does that use ? MPEG2 or 4 ? (if yes, then sure, VLC will read that ... provided that your CPU is powerful enough)

yes, i think mpeg 4.Nottotally sure though.

How could i find out how to stream it?

You might try searching Dreambox here. But as I remember it's MPEG 2 with a header change and a utility is necessary to make a standard header. Now I could be remembering this wrong which is why I suggested a search!

It could have also been MPEG 2 TS, it has been a while.
