hi,

i have an g4 (800mhz), panther 10.3.1 and a m-audio sonica.

when i try to start a dvd with vlc 0.70test1 (also with 0.62) i get that coreaudio error msg, which is mentioned in this forum somewhere. video is fine, but sound only throu internal speaker (haha).
i get sound with itunes, so the sonica works. stereo-svcds are no problem with vlc/sonica. only ac3/dvds.

i need to play dvds via vlc on that mac. i want ac3 through "digital out".

which sounddevice would you recommend?
which one has support for ac3 with vlc and panther?
i don´t need game-support, no 10000 input/output-ports, only working digital out to amplifier.

Our audio output plugin is currently a bit broken. I'm trying to fix it in time for a 0.7.0 release.

so you think, that it´s not the the sonica-driver, that makes the problem?
hmm. when will 0.70 come out prox.? what is the time range, pls?

well at least, i don´t need a new soundcard.

btw. 0.70test1 runs very stable (except ac3 on my machine.
