VLC and Multiple Sources

G'day

I currently use VLC to serve a web cam that covers our reception. I've been asked to add a second camera, and I'm not 100% sure what the best course of action is going to be.

On one hand, I could try to stream both sources from a single machine using two instances of VLC.

The other option is to try to set up VLC to display 10 seconds from one source, then 10 seconds from the other and cycle between them. I have no idea if that is possible or not.

Does anybody else have any experience with this sort of thing?

I believe there are switchers in the market that allow multiple inputs and one output chat can be viewed simultaneously or in fixed segments depending on the number of inputs, the size or each and resolution. This would be a much better option when asked to add a third or forth unit.

I'm using USB web cams at this point. I haven't anything like that with USB inputs.

I don't suppose you'd know where to look for such a beast?
