I have a lot of movies in widescreen, but when i try to watch them in the amino 110 stb, i get the image distorted, no matter i change the amino tv screen setup to widescreen, and doesn't give me the black bars on top and bottom, only get 1 big black bar bottom, i'm not sure if it's a VLC setting i have to adjust or if it's something in the amino setup, i can watch movies in 4:3 without problems, any help will be appreciated, thanks

all DVDs are 4x3 even when there is 16x9 content. This allows compatibility to older 4x3 TVs. The newer wide screen TVs allow (generally via a switch in the TV) for both 4x3 and 16x9 content. But for older 4x3 TVs once the video has been cropped there is no resolve.

Vertical Stretch

Thanks for the answer, the video looks vertically stretched, and there is no crop, is a kind of resize, that's the distortion i mean, and no black bars only one big black bar on bottom, the movies are already divx compressed 16:9 and looks fine in vlc and looks fine too in tv via prismiq, only problem is when i try to watch via amino 110 stb feeding from vlc

When you watch these in VLC in a window NOT in full screen, are the top and bottom bars?

I have assumed that your TV is the older 4x3 is this the case?

You have stated that using another program to feed your TV seems to be OK, have you tried to use VLC via your video card the feed your TV directly?

From everything you have indicated thus far the problem does appear to be the STB but there are other considerations. Have you looked at there website for info regarding this problem?

Have you verified the Amino 110 even supports widescreen video ?
I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't. It wasn't THAT advanced.

Yes! According to the specifications it is MPEG 2 capable of 16x9 and 4x3!

Amino says is supported, my Tv is an old 4:3, when i watch via VLC in the comp not in full screen there is no top and bottom bars, only when i watch in full screen, the other program is a Prismiq box, and i don't have video output direct from the comp to tv, thanks

The answer is cropped video is impossible to correct for a 4x3 TV as the compatibility (black bars) has been removed during the encoding process using a crop filter. There is no way to restore this.

I found what i was doing wrong, i go to preferences in vlc and look for stream output/sout stream/transcode and change values for video padding (top), and that's it, depends of the stream ratio it gonna move a little upper or a little lower, but works fine.
Now my next question is:, how can i do preferences values differents for different streams when use http interface and work with more than 1 stream?, thanks
