using your media player

I downloaded your media player and I want to use it to view a video clip that my buddy emailed me, but it wants to use windows media player, which can't run it anyway (due to codec issues)! How do I make it use yours? Thanks for any help!

Hi amywill5,

Go to your file and right-click on it, select "Open with", then "Choose Program", if VLC is in the list select it, otherwise click the "Other"-Button, browse to vlc.exe and open it.
Check "Always use this program to open these files" if you want to set VLC as default for that type of file.

If you want to play more files with VLC you should uninstall and reinstall VLC, this way you can choose the file type associations.
