what do you mean by that , since i mean , if i only open the dvd region code 1 disc using the vlc media player , but not my own dvd player which include in the laptopHello
VLC itself doesn't suffer from the DVD region bug, however, it can't do anything about what is enforced in hardware by your DVD drive.
If your DVD drive supports RPC2 and is set to a specific region and the disk you are trying to play uses RPC2 to enforce region coding for another region then there is nothing you can do about that in software.
The only way to get around this is to reflash the firmware of the drive with RPC1 firmware so that the region coding can be overridden by software.
If your drive has RPC1 firmware then VLC should be able to play DVDs from any region.
Hope that helps,
Gavin
ok , but my laptop is satillite M50 toshiba which I bought last year, could you determined that my vlc player could play region code 1 dvd?To be able to watch all disks of any region you need an RPC1 drive and software that does not enforce region coding. In VLC you have the software part of the puzzle.
Unless your laptop is very old or has already had the drive firmware flashed, then it will be RPC2.
For information on drive firmware and flashing a good place to look is forum.rpc1.org
