Hi,
my current job is finding a tv streaming sollution for our bank. We want stream six tv programs on six pc per multicast to round about 200 users. I'm evaluating vlc (after I can't compile vls) vs. windows media server. The result is that vlc gives better picture quality with same bitrate,
there are at least two problems.
First is the sound. I stream with this command from a Suse Linux Server:
vlc -vvv v4l:/dev/video:norm=pal:frequency=154250:size=640x480:channel=0:adev=/dev/audio:audio=mono --sout '#transcode{vcodec=mp4v,acodec=mpga,vb=768,ab=96,vt=80000,keyint=80,deinterlace}:std{access=udp,mux=ts,url=239.255.210.81}' --ttl 7
The windows vlc client 0.6.2 crashes with a drwatson popup (see my other post for log) after a few seconds. The sound is jerky and not synchron. When I start the client with --noaudio there is no crash and the picture looks pretty good (ttl 7).
The other prob are the user rights. How can I authorisize a windows user for the stream? Can vlc client send the windows username to the server?
I need urgent some tips. Please help ....
Thanks!
Magz
