Time duration off (MPEG2-files)

I'm currently having this problem:

The duration of, for example, a 22mins51secs-mpeg2-movie-clip is displayed as 3mins59secs in VLC (v0.8.4a).
The movie-speed is correct, but the time counts 1 second at a rate of about 1/5 of what it should....

AVI's, MPEG1's, WMV's etc. are all working OK

Would appreciate any tips/clues/hints.......

I have the same problem with 0.8.5, running Mac OS 10.4.6. It's very frustrating, because it effectively makes the seek-bar useless.

Oh great, it looks like this problem has been around for ages, but no one can / will fix it!
