Mozilla Plugin always downloads, but would prefer to stream

I can make up html pages as documented to have a static web page served as a video stream to the Mozilla plugin.

Problem is, clickin on links starts VLC plugin, but not as a stream, so user must wait for full download before realizing it's the VLC plugin and what is happening.

Looking though plugin code, I see b_stream defaults to false.

Is there an about:config, registry key, VLC setting that will change the default to stream?
