Subtitle problem

Im using version 7.1 in Windows 98 and when I play many files' subtitles they wont appear, though in subtitles they are loaded. Please, can someone help me with my problem? Thanks

you might try extracting the subs using a demux-er and simply load the subs externly(which can be done). i cant think of another solution(possibly try 0.6.2 version of VLC).

ohhh here is something about subs
i have avi movie and then i wonna to have subs in the vlc player, what kind of files will player accept??? txt srt or sub ????
some suggestion pleas!!!!

txt can be many things. many of them supported. srt should be supported. sub can also be many things, but normally it is vobsubs which is not well supported. To play vobsub .subs you need a .idx as well.

Im sorry i dont understand much of this, but the file i try to play is an ogg file with srt extension. What is demux and the other extension that was named?

if you download the full vobsub utilities you get demuxer(that is the name of the utility). use it to extract the subtitles whatever form it is in, and try loading them through the extracted file.

i can't display subtitle

I also can problem with subtitle . My language is bulgarian , just like russian . I can not display subtitle from LAN . Preferences >> Input >> Autodetect - checked and Subtitle autodetection fuzziness - 1 . Modules >> decoder >> subsdec - Subtitles text encoding - CP1251 - Ok . But i can't view subtitles on the screen :(
