No video

I just upgraded to the newest version and I am having a problem playing any videos. If I set the video preferences to Windows GDI I do get video but the full screen is disabled.
If I set it to default of Direct X as it should be, I get no video only audio. This is driving me crazy, I never had this problem before. Anyone have any ideas?

Perhaps take a look at Settings -- Preferences.
Click the Advanced Options checkbox, then in the left-hand frame look at Modules -- Video Output -- vout_directx. There are three HW-oriented directx options (plus selecting the display device), that you might try changing.
Just a thought...

Ok, here is an update. It is the same with every player but zoom player. Even Windoze Media Player does the same. So it is something external to VLC. This is very strange.
Does anyone have any ideas? I will try anything at this point.

Try updating your directX install, and your video card drivers

Hello
I had the very same problem - couldn`t read divx. And when I try changing to Windows GDI there is also a problem with colours. Like blue instead of red...
What can I do?

color problem is most likely due to hardare RGB->YUV conversion. if overlays ever are fixed, this problem will becomes fixed(atleast for me).
