Can't play .mvr files from the memory card in my V380 style camera

I can't get VLC Player to play .mvr video files from the memory card in my V380 style camera. VLC Player returns the error message "Unidentified codec" , "VLC could not identify the audio or video codec." Any thoughts or suggestions?
