Damaged file trying to convert/save file? Need help!

Postby Fredmastermind » 30 May 2024 22:22

Hey! So I have problem, but first. So I had a video file and was following chatGPT's advise as I had no idea what i was doing. So in VLC media player I choose media, then convert/save, then I added the file, pressed Convert/save button, selected a destination and pressed the start button. But I got a wierd message that said the output file already exists. So I pressed "Keep existing file". But nothing happend as far as i was aware. So I did the samething, but pressed "Overwrite" this time. But this time it damage my file or something and VLC is now unable to open the file. Along with other programs like media player, clipchamp and a few other programs. But the file is just completely messed up.

So my question is can i repair/fix my file or undo whatever i just did? This video file was pretty important and long. So if there is anyway to fix the file then i really want to know!

Thanks in advance!

I hope this is the right place to ask this question. If not then I'm sorry.

If your file system supports rolling back, then there's that. Otherwise the file is lost.
