VLC crashes in Windows when opening NAS files.

VLC crashes in Windows when opening NAS files.

Postby siper » 16 Mar 2024 02:23

Hey guys,

I hope this post is acceptable for this forum since it involves 2 different OS ecosystems. I've got a bunch of mp4's and DVD files on my Synology NAS (which has been mapped as a drive Z: in Windows Explorer). When I simply double-click a file to open in VLC, VLC opens for a brief moment and then crashes.

I've rolled back to previous versions of VLC, switched output from Auto to OpenGL, turned off Hardware Decoding, reset preferences, and reinstalled the latest version. no change. Using an NVIDIA RTX 3080 video card and Windows 11.

Any ideas what I need to change in order to get VLC to stop crashing?

Here's the debug:
