VLC on PC vs VLC on TV

When I rip my blu-rays, they come out perfect on the PC. However, when I move them to my storage device (still playing perfectly on the PC from this storage device), they won't play on my TV - where I have downloaded and installed VLC from the Google Play Store. The video will only show a still from the movie, while the audio chugs along without a problem.

This problem affects about 3/4 of my blu-ray rips. And I rip them all with the same settings!

Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong? Is there a difference between the two versions of VLC? Or is my TV the culprit?
