Unable to crop or zoom video

I am on Version 3.0.18 Vetinari (Intel 64bit) and OS X 12.

I have an MP4 video that I am trying to crop and just display a specific section. I can crop what I want under window->video effects->crop or by using the "crop from bottom" shortcut but I can't figure out how to save the resulting video.

Driving me nuts as I assume there is something obvious I am missing.

You can't just simply a cropped video. You'd have to re-encode it, which is a very slow and lossy process. Still it can be done, but only from the command line interface.

In practice, people do this with video editing software, not media players.
