Display Downloaded Metadata for File Title?

Postby TangoOversway » 08 Apr 2023 08:35

I don't think this is possible in VLC itself, but I'm wondering if there is some kind of plugin or add-on that will do this.

Is there any way to have VLC display metadata about a file by using the filename. For instance, if I have a file titled "Raiders_Of_The_Lost_Ark-1981" or "Battlestar Galactica 2004 S01E06" that there's some plugin or script that can parse the filename and use it to do an IMDB or TVDB lookup (or even a CDDB one) using the information and title in the file to display information such as the episode title or a summary of the story?

I'm currently using a video player on a particular platform that does this and I've found I really appreciate that feature, however there are many other things about that player that I don't like. (Including lack of availability on many platforms.)
