Is there anyway to loop within a folder, media library or playlist

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to use vlc for doing my tabletop gaming audio. I have all my mp3s organized into a tree structure of folders nested folders. Its easy enough to drag the top folder to the media libray and have everything already cleanly organized into my game "scenes". I was hoping I could set it up to loop only the mp3s within a folder, but the loop seems to treat the media library as one big Playlist even when you have stuff organized in folders. Any ideas on how to get the functionality I'm looking for? Thanks for any help.
