Is it possible for VLC to save or remember bookmarks that I have created so that next time bookmarks are there when I open up the player?

I concur. This is clearly a bug.
Do this:

1. Play a movie
2. Summon the bookmark manager with ⌘-B
3. Add the bookmark(s)
4. Close the movie.
5. Launch it again.
6. Open the bookmark manager
7. The bookmarks are gone.

To the developers: is it possible to fix the defect in the near future?
