Play specific item in playlist with hotkey

Postby bibiales » 14 Aug 2022 10:54

Hello everybody,

I am creating an automated setup for a friend's upcoming exhibition and I would like to use VLC to play some specific videos when prompted with hotkeys.

I have 4 videos in the playlist. I would like to press a key to play item #1, another for item #3 and so on.
Using the "Next" command hotkey won't do it, I need to point to a specific item in the playlist (not blindly play next video).

I found the "Playlist bookmarks" hotkeys in the Preferences, but I can't get them to work. They don't do anything for me, even when using global hotkeys with unused key combinations.

Basically I would like to achieve what an old hi-fi system could do : you press "3" on the remote and it jumps to track number 3.
I also tried with MPC-HC and I could not find anything either.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Thank you and have a nice day,
Bibiales
