Select subtitles according to their metadata?

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Select subtitles according to their metadata?

Postby Iruru » 22 Jul 2022 00:47

I often come across files with multiple Spanish subtitles (LATAM/Spain), both with the same language code but different titles and if my preference is not the first one I have to manually change them all the time.
I came across this script for mpv which works perfectly for my use case, but I would like to use VLC instead.

Does anyone know if is there already an existing method to automatically select them in VLC?

Looks like VLC also supports Lua scripting, although I personally have no experience with Lua at all… But in case there is no existing way to automatically select them already, would it be possible to adapt that script for VLC?
“Global VLC Lua README” and “Playlist script specific README” both give me a 404 error. So, I'm not really sure where I could find more information about that.
