Playlist sorts directories to top automatically.

Postby dwlamb » 09 Dec 2021 16:58

Good day,

I have been using VLC for a while to view videos for years. Regularly my playlist - always in xspf format - is a mixture of individual video files and one or more directories of video files. The option is set to display a playlist as a tree (i.e., show sub-directories in a playlist, not all files as a list). To watch videos, I always double-click the playlist shortcut on my desktop. Recently, when I open VLC, it has taken to skip all individual files in the playlist and go to the first file in a sub-directory. Or, between the time I exit VLC and re-open it at a later time sub-directories get shifted to the top of the playlist even though they may have been in the middle or at the bottom of the playlist at the time it was saved.

The playlist is displayed in details mode; show title and time. Neither of the column headings is clicked to indicate a preferred sort order.

It is as though VLC is parsing the playlist and will always play files in a sub-directory first.
