Saving audio at 2x speed/tempo

I want to know if it is possible in vlc to save an audio file at 2x speed or twice the tempo halving its length, similar to how you can save a video file at 2x speed by using code ":rate=2".
When you save a video that has audio at 2x speed, the video is halved but the audio plays at 1x speed. I can convert a video to audio in vlc and use an audio program to increase the tempo by 100% and save it(and add back to video with 2x speed in another program) but I want to know if I can skip using another program and just use vlc to do it. Even just increasing the speed of an audio file would be enough.
I have tried "Audio tempo scaler synched with rate" in audio codec setting during convert with ":rate=2" and that doesnt work. I've tried code ":scaletempo-stride=100", ":scaletempo-stride=200", ":scaletempo-stride=2000" and it had no change in the audio.
Just want a no answer if it cant do it or a how to if it can.
