Converting a video with image properties filter looks differently than when filter are applied

Recently, I've tried to convert an .avi video that is way too dark using the VLC "Convert/Save" option. However, what I get as a result looks much different from what I see when I apply these same adjustments to the video directly. In short, it is much brighter and there is visible banding / a reduction in color space, for lack of a better word.

For this video, I made ajustments to brightness / contrast and activated the denoiser. For "Convert/Save" I ticked the "High Quality 3D Denoise Filter" and "Image properties filter" boxes, assuming that these are identical (hard to tell since filter names are different from the options in the adjustment menus). I've systematically tried all other adjustments to see if I could replicate the look of the converted video, but I seem to be unable to do so. I've also tried converting to .avi as well as the quality / bitrate settings... to no avail.

That being said I've tried recreating the look in another software, but VLC makes it look best for some reason. I'd really love to convert it that way.

Any advice on how to make it actually export it the way I want it...?

Well, as is typical in such cases I just found the solution. I had to use a different codec (MJPEG in my case). Of course, after days of trying and finally making a post here I stumble upon the solution. Sorry guys, please disregard this topic. I'd delete it if I could.
