Multi-Channel WAV Not Playing in Stereo for MOV

Postby TACarp » 19 Jul 2021 03:21

I have a 7.1 channel MOV with WAV audio. I try playing it with VLC 3.0.16 on my computer with the HDMI plugged into my AVR. For some reason it isn't playing as multi-channel. It lets me select one of the eight tracks under audio and which ever one I select play out of the front right speaker. I want all eight tracks to play but out of different speakers. I tried automatic output module with hdmi enabled and and my AVR selected as the output device. I also tried directX with 7.1 speaker configuration selected under all options. I also tried WaveOut Audio Output with the channels changed to 8 under all options. I think VLC is thinking each channel is a different track. I made the video I am trying to preview in DaVinci Resolve. I think it is something I can't get to work with VLC and not how I exported it from Resolve because when I open the video/audio in Adobe Audition and play it, each channel plays properly. What should I do to get it to play in surround sound?

Solved

DaVinci Resolve has an export option to have one track for each channel I had enabled. You can delete this thread if it is unrelated to VLC.
