Viewing a WSS video stream in VLC?

Postby aircastcdn » 31 May 2021 02:20

Hello,
Is it possible to view a WSS video stream in VLC?
A 24x7 stream example is wss://vd1.wmspanel.com/video_demo/stream

Thank you in advance

Looks like it doesn't work with VLC 3.0.14. Maybe try with VLC 4.x nightly build.

Thank you for your suggestion, but no luck I am afraid.

WebSockets is a transport layer, not an application layer, or a media streaming protocol as such, so they're not something that VLC can view as is. The question does not make much sense. It's like asking if VLC can view a TCP or a TLS stream.

But to be fair, given that VLC does not support anything over WebSockets at this time, the answer is going to be no in any case.
