I apologise if this has been covered but I have read through the pages and still cannot find the answer !!
I have many movies on my computer to play through the VLC player.
These movies are split into many small files.
How do I play all of the movie.
I am very fristrated as all I seem able to do is watch the first 2 minutes (1 file) of my movies.
Please help...

Just put every file that belongs to the movie into the playlist.
Or if the files are in one folder you can play the whole directory:
File - Open Directory - and navigate to the folder.
Or:
File - Open File - select every file you want to watch, if you have selected 20 files click "Open" and "OK".
In every case every file should be played after the other.

Thankyou for the reply however.......
I still have the same problem on ALL of my movies.
It plays the first part (usually about 1 minute) then nothing.
The whole movie is in the playlist but only the first part plays.....
damn frustrating

Did you try to reinstall VLC and/or delete the preferences ?

I don't think so, but it is possible that you have the option "Play and stop" activated.
Settings - Preferences - Playlist - General.

Not that either.
The strange thing is that the same problem occurs with all of the movies.

That's weird, where do you get those files, i want to try it myself.
Maybe there is something wrong with the movie.
What kind of files are we talking about ? Avi, mpg ?

well, at least for me. i figured out my "problem." and it might help you, too. (i'm a nube at this thing).
i got "the man" in 49 files of XviD compression with extensions *.001, *.002, *.003, etc.... which apparently was created with another compression program winrar.
so, i needed to "unrar" it, decompress it or "extract" it with the 1st file, *.001, and the rest is automatic; it then becomes 1 AVI file...!
now i can watch the movie!
don't know what extensions you have. but, give winrar a shot...! it just might work..... good luck.
i'm happy!!

Tigerjohn,
Thankyou so much for taking the time to help me sort out the problem.
All of my movies are playing fine now with the help of winrar.
I posted this topic on the 'windows vlc media player discussion' board and was made to feel an idiot who didn't know what they were doing by 'experienced downloaders'.
We all have to start somewhere and i'm glad you took the time out to help me....
It's just a shame that some feel that a discussion forum like this is only reserved for experienced downloaders.

You need to 'join' the small parts of the files. On windows, you can try copy "file1" + "file2" + "file3" + ... + "filen" "outfile"
