When i try to play the streamed video on this https://www.livenewsmag.com/fox-news-live-stream/, it will NOT play on VLC.

Using the inspection tool i was able to pull this https://1028107998.rsc.cdn77.org/DaB4XW ... index.m3u8, but when I enter it in VLC, it wont play. I'm guessing there is some kind of protection blocking the real link? Am I missing something obvious?

Your M3U8 link is protected by a token (the DaB4XW9zq76LX-L1wqEO3A==,1610392751 part) which is dynamically generated by the web page. VLC can't deal with that.

thank you for the response, so you would say its almost impossible to get the real vlc link correct?

Even YoutubeDL cannot view that link, so you're out of luck.
