QDM2 audio codec

For the last couple of months I have been using VLC (was 0.7.0, is now 0.7.1) on a Windows ME system (with DirectX 8.1).
According to the "Features" page on this site, the Windows port of VLC supports the QDM2 audio codec used in QuickTime (versions 4 and 5) movies.
I find VLC will play most QT movies very well. Sorensen 3 video codec is supported, as is IMA4 and MPGA audio codes. I am also grateful for the fact that VLC will play the new MP4 movies, since I don't have any other media player that will do this.
However if I feed a QT movie with a QDM2 soundtrack into VLC I just get a picture and silence. Do other users of VLC under Windows get the same? Or is this some peculiarity of my own system? And if so, are there any tips for fixing it?
