Looking for compatible blueray drive

Hello,
I wasn't sure which topic to post this under, so please don't crucify me.
I am looking to buy a blue-ray writer/reader and I want one that is fully compatible with VLC, since I don't use anything else. I have heard that some drives don't work with VLC, so I thought I should check here first.
