(It does not work in QuickTime X on Mac OS X 11 Beta, due to the removed "legacy" codec. That Apple invented.)
VLC was tested on both Mac OS X 10.13.6 and 11 Beta.
At least the sound should work? Standard PCM type codec.

I assume it also fails to play on other OSes, but if this is actually just a Mac only issue (which would be weird), then move to the Mac forum.
I can file a full bug report if that would help.
