VLC Not Working With Broadcastify Streams

Postby Kaimbridge » 22 Aug 2020 21:25

A while back (2-3 months?), streams from Broadcastify suddenly stopped working, instead spitting out a "Your input can’t be opened:" error box.

E.g., https://broadcastify.cdnstream1.com/33417

This is the case with both my desktop (Linux Mint), as well as my Android tablet.
The streams still work with Totem/Videos and Banshee, though.
Is this something they did (but why would it still work with Totem and Banshee?) or some bug with VLC? :?:

Ah, so it is.
Okay, in that case, a simple workaround—as long as security isn’t an issue—is to just change “https” to “http”! P=)
