Can't play/stream or download (mp3) YouTube video.

Hi,
I'm trying to download a YouTube video or a playlist in mp3 format.
When i add the link to VLC player it doesn't start playing. It stays blank, and a yellow line starts moving back and forth in the play progress bar on the bottom. It stays like that and VLC crashes.

VLC Version: 3.0.8 Vetinari
Fresh installation. Old settings, preferences cleared.
Youtube Luac file's date: 2019.08.14
Any help is much appreciated.
