Why does't video actually fit my screen?

Hi guys, I have 1680x1050 resolution, GTX 760 graphic card, using Windows 10 but no matter which video I open, it never actually fits my screen. I tried 1080p videos, as well as 2160p, both show me same size and it feels no difference. I always have huge black borders in any full screened video.
Examples:
720p: https://imgur.com/x5qBYET
1080p: https://imgur.com/Glcps6K
2160p: https://imgur.com/GnrWKa9
No matter how high quality video I play, it always look and feel same to me.

To fill up your screen you need a 1680x1050 video
Any other size will obviously have black borders.
Your screen resolution has a 1.6 aspect ratio while most movies have a 1.78 or 2.35 aspect ratio.

So correct me if I am wrong, a 1080p video indicates it has an image resolution of 1920×1080 pixels while a 2160p video has image resolution of 3840 × 2160. As I have shown in the screenshots, I played 720p, 1080p and 2160p (all of them), yet everything was shown to me in the same way. Doesn't this mean I already have a 1680x1050 video since the image resolution of these videos is far greater than the required minimum.

I also would like to say that horizontally, my screen is filled up but black borders only show up vertically (top and bottom of video)

Your screen: 1680 / 1050 = 1.6
Common video resolutions:
1280 / 720 = 1.78
1920 / 1080 = 1.78
3840 / 2160 = 1.78
Your screen has a higher height than most videos, hence the black bars.

Doesn't 1080p means height of 1080 pixels? With that case video is larger than my size (height) and should be cropped/reduced in size instead of showing black bars

1080p means progressive frames with 1080 scan lines.
VLC will of course not crop or distort by default. Most people don't want that.
You can press A or C to change the A/R or crop A/R.

Have you tried clicking on 'Video' then unchecking 'Always Fit Window'? It will crop the sides off your video but you'll have no more black borders.
