Playlist from chapters in multiple files?

Hello. I have several .m4v files that each are set up with chapter markers when they play in VLC. I would like to create a playlist that includes various chapters from these files, so when I launch the playlist it will automatically play a sequence of different chapters from among the various .m4v files. For example, playlist would include:
File 1, chapter 3 followed by
File 4, chapter 2 followed by
File 7, chapter 4 etc.
Is this possible? If so, how do you do it?
I am using v 3.0.8 on a Mac and I don't know how to do any scripting.
