White turns into greyish when playing recorded desktop video in browser

Hello Everyone!

I'd like to record a desktop video and display it on a website using the HTML5 video element. VLC has all the features I need and I'm super happy about it! First of all, thank you for it!

I noticed something strange. White color turns into greyish when playing the video in Chrome and IE. It's perfectly OK in Firefox and Opera. Here's a comparison screenshot:

The video is displayed correctly in every desktop player I tried.

The settings I used during recording the desktop video:
Capture Device - Capture Mode: Desktop, frame rate: 20.00 f/s, encapsulation: mp4/mov, video codec: H-264.

I'm using Windows 8.1 and my computer has Intel Graphics chipset.

Could you give me some advice, please? Any help really appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

It seems that the problem is with YUV color range.

Since I'm a new member, I don't want to mention other programs' name here (because admins might think that I came here to advertise other programs), but the point is, I didn't find how to change the color range in VLC, so I opened the video in a video editor, set the YUV color range to partial and finally re-recorded the video. It's fine now.

I hope this will be helpful for someone later.
