How to limit fps to 25 when running multiple network streams?

I'm trying to run in VLC 3.0.4 some multiple network video streams, which can offer both 25 and 50 fps 1280x720 streams. The problem is that VLC chooses always automatically the 1280x720/50 fps stream, which is too much for my CPU. Is there a way in to limit the fps to 25, so that I could always run the 1280x720/25 fps stream?
