I have installed VLC 3.0.7.1 Vetinari on both Linux and Windows and was not getting media information for music CDs even when the "Allow metadata network access" is checked. In all cases the CDDB server was set to freedb.videolan.org. But some online suggestions led me to try freedb.freedb.org instead. That worked.
So my questions are: why doesn't the default work, will it sometimes work and sometimes not work, are there any issues staying with freedb.freedb.org?
