No seek bar for playing AVI via HTTP

At playing files AVI on HTTP seek bar does not appear and rewind is impossible.
Such problem is not present at playing on HTTP files WMV, ASF, MPEG.
In VLC v0.7.x such problem too is not present.
It is a error in a player or it can be corrected change of settings ?
Thanks!

This is disabled, because otherwise VLC needs to Seek back to the index of the file on the webserver, causing a lot of HTTP requests to be going around between server and client. It was considered by servers to be highly annoying. In the future we likely "remember" the index in some sort of way, but it's not finished yet.

Many thanks for a prompt reply.
Whether It is impossible to make in the future versions the hidden option allowing to bypass this restriction?
For my server such loading is not critical and absence of rewind extremely inconveniently.
It is necessary to use MPlayer in some cases.: (((

The DJ, please make this option aviable in menu! I have http server started in my LAN. There are many video servers, but i have access to video files only by http protocol!
Download speed - 10 Mbit/s, so i think there is no proplem to sent many http requests to server.

p.s. sorry for my bad english.
p.p.s. Please make this option! I need it very much!!!

Greetings. I want to know whether the future has come, mentioned by The DJ.
I mean, would ever enabled rewind function for AVI stream from an HTTP site in browser windows (Chrome as example)?
By the way: when I try to see AVI file in VLC as stream from URL, I can rewind, but timer show wrong things and i'm really don't understand how much is rewound...
