Display file created date and time

Good day

I am trying to find a way to overlay the media file created date / time when playing back a file (avi). I would be quite happy just to see it - for e.g. next to the filename in the interface. Can this be done, anyone?

I have searched everywhere and have information on overlaying current date and time (marquee, %D/%T etc).

Thanks so much for any clues.
