Not very tech savvy.. I tried looking at the privacy policies and didn't really see a specific answer to this question.

If I use vlc for personal files, are those accessible to other people? Ie. People not on my computer or wifi.

Probably a dumb question but wanted to see for sure.

Hi,

VLC doesn't collect anything. If enabled you have service to discover services around you, and there might be some day where you could opt-in to expose some services from VLC (like DLNA casting server currently being integrated) but it's your choice and DNLA doesn't even give access to your files. You can currently broadcast things too, but it's done by doing to Media>Stream/convert and choosing the parameters correctly.

So no, they are not accessible until you tell to do so.
