I think the new Logo is much bader than the old one. If I look to my Quick-Start-Bar I regret having downloaded the new Version.

Right-click your Quick-Start-Bar-VLC-Icon, select Properties and hit "Change Icon" at the lower right corner.

To change the file-type icons:
Start - Settings - Control Panel - Folder Options - select your file type - hit advanced - and change the icon.

Repeat that procedure for every file type you want to change the icon for.
