Playlist Order

Hi All

I'm new and wondered if I may be able to get some advice please? I have been using VLC for years and love it. However I have ran into an issue which is probably easy to fix but wanted to ask the question.

I select multiple media files, right-click and add to vlc playlist which then opens VLC and starts playing my files.

The problem is clicking next will either play the next file or play the same one randomly multiple times and then move to a new file on the playlist. Clicking next will re-play an old file again! I click next multiple times and still it will re-play the same files over and over and only move to a new file randomly. Not all files are played after clicking next more times than there are files. The ones that don't play will play fine if I play them individually. I have thousands of video clips so it's not isolated to certain files.

This is annoying and wondered if there is an easy fix? I just want to play in date/time order from newest to oldest.

I run Windows 10 brand new clean install but the issue persists.

VLC Version is 3.0.6 Vetinari but it's been happening for many months across all versions so it's very annoying now!

I have searched the forums for an answer but can't find one, unless i'm not seeing the answer.
