Hi:
Would you please tell me how to make VLC Player remember its window size when using a custom skin?
Thanks,
Kenny

Resize vlc to your preferred size and then go to Tools ---> Preferences and remove the checkmark from "Resize interface to video size". Save and then restart VLC.

Thanks very much for your reply hitchhiker. I followed your directions and they worked. However, as soon as I switched back to "Use custom skin," the window size went back to the small default size and "Resize interface to video size" no longer appeared in the interface. It appears only when "Use native style" is checked.
How can I keep using the custom skin and still have VLC player open in full screen?
Thanks

A quick and easy way to make VLC remember it's window size (and position), is to close the VLC-window (with the X in the upper right corner) while pressing Ctrl at the same time.

Thank you for your reply as well billingstad, but, although it may have worked in earlier versions, VLC does not remember its window size and position when its window is closed with the X in the upper right corner while pressing CTRL. Maybe that worked in earlier versions.
I also use Zoom Player in which a check mark is simply placed in "Remember window state on exit (fullscreen / width /height)."
It's the equivalent of that I want to accomplish in VLC.

The main reply says:
Resize vlc to your preferred size and then go to .... etc
That is the problem, it opens to an enormous size, and no corner, or cursor, or handle exists.
I only can imagine the box must open smaller as you suggest. But mine won't.
Thanks:)

If anyone stumbles upon this, here you go:
(Default Settings = make sure "Resize to Video Interface" is Checked and "Video Auto Scaling" is also Checked)
0. Open VLC Media Player
1. Go to "Tools" then click "Preferences"
2. In the bottom-left of the Window, see "Show Settings" and then check "All"
3. Scroll down to the "Videos" tab using the scroll bar, then click on the "Videos" tab
4. Look to the right of the window and scroll down to the bottom until you see "Zoom video".
5. The Default Value of "Zoom Video" should be 1. Change to however large/small you want it to be. I have it set to 0.75
6. Press "Save" and Close any open VLC Media Player Windows, all VLC media player windows will now be whatever zoom level you specified.
